That was summer by Mere

Remember when the mud felt like it was sticking to my feet
at my Koro Martin’s house in Auckland?
Remember the time when I saw lots of stars shining like glitter?
That was summer.

Remember the giant playground at the family day out and I couldn’t  find  Joe, mum’s friend?
Remember the smell of the curry chicken steam floating up through my nose?
That was summer.

Remember the time when I saw two children stuck in the room all day?
Remember the feeling of cold ice cream melting like sand going through my hands?

That was summer.
